Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Childhood: Aspects of Surgical Therapy (EN)

Christopoulos-Geroulanos, G.
Soutis, M.

Following the diagnosis as exactly as permitted, many children will have to undergo corrective surgery, mainly dependent on the complications of CD or UC respectively and/ or the intractability to conservative therapy. Surgery may be corrective mainly in CD cases or colectomy if the disease is restricted to the large bowel for CD. In cases of UC colectomy is curative. The indication and results of surgical intervention is discussed. Key words: Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Children, Surgery (EN)
